Leaving Soon

Team Redwood will be leaving for Haiti soon (Nov 2-12, 2011).  We have been fundraising and recruiting and packing and purchasing and planning and it looks like this will be a wildly successful mission.  We have plans on providing medical care in several schools and orphanages, workng in a very short-handed hospital and even a trip to the HIV/AIDs hospital Gheskio.  We will be providing food and repairs to an orphanage in the Port Au Prince neighborhood of Fontamara.  We just recieve word that one of the adults helping this place is begging for food to care for the 29 children in this place from ages 7 months to 16 years.  He is only able to get supplements of rice from an agency once every 3 months.  Some of these kids do not even have beds to sleep on.  Donations can be made to Team Redwood at North Valley Bank, 1492 Northcrest Drive, Crescent City, CA  95531.  100% of all money goes directly to the care of the gracious and beautiful Haitian people.  We do not spend it on admnistrative costs.

CARWASH and BBQ

Del Norte Warrior Football Players and Boosters will be washing cars as a community service/learning with donations going to the Haiti Project next Saturday Sept 24 from 11-4 at Chetco Federal Credit Union at 6th and Hwy 101, Crescent City.
Team Redwood will also be manning the grills at the Tailgate BBQ at the home game on Friday night September 23rd.  We can accept cash donations when you come down to buy your burger or dogs!
Don't forget the dropsite at Lisa McKeown's State Farm Office.  We really need Flintstone's Complete Vitamins, eyeglasses, reading glasses, French Bibles, large lightweight suitcases, and cash.

FLIP FLOP DROP FUNDRAISER

Team Redwood is doing a FLIP FLOP DROP as a fundraiser to help our adopted orphanage in Haiti.

Go to www.godfeet.com and order you pair of custom flip flops.  When ordering use the COUPON CODE CA002 and this will insure that Team Redwood gets a 2nd pair of flip flops for an orphan and a $2 donation for each pair sold.  www.godfeet.com

You can use this orange link above!  Don't forget the COUPON CODE!!!  CA002

Shoes, even flip flops, will help protect a vulnerable child from soil born diseases and foot injuries which could lead to life-threatening infections.  Small cuts here in the USA which would get a boo-boo kiss from mom and a bandaid can cause death in a place like Haiti where access to medical care is just not available.

Help Wanted!

Team Redwood is looking for a new home.  We need a free address.  So far we haven't had to spend any money on administrative costs.  Talking Crow Studios had to close it's beautiful and generous doors on June 1 due to the economy so we are looking for a dropsite and mailing address.  Please let us know if you think of a business that would be willing to accept donations for us.  Mostly money!  But sometimes meds, vitamins, and supplies for the orphans.

We are also currently recruiting for rugged, healthy and stable medical providers (RN's and above) for the Nov 2011 mission trip.  These mission team members would need to have a heart for the mission and be team players.

Safe Drinking Water!

Retired engineer Mike Young from Crescent City, CA was already headed to another volunteer job in Haiti in March 2011.  Team Redwood was able to coordinate with the orphanage to pick up Mike at the airport during his layover in Port Au Prince and take him to the orphanage (ORO) to inspect, measure and make calculations and plans to install a permanent safe water system for the orphans.  Mike returned to Crescent City and started working hard to make this dream a reality while Team Redwood continued to fund raise.  While we were busy here at home, a group from Doctors without Borders come in and did some MUCH NEEDED WORK, including installing a safe water system!  Mike now has 4 plans that can be used at other places in Haiti, Latin America or Africa because unfortunately, many, many people still go without safe drinking water.  Team Redwood was able to send cash with Mike to help feed the orphans, which they have been very frugal with and they money is working out very nicely for them, however the needs of the orphanage are still great.  Please continue to give.

Clean Water for the Orphans

Something very exciting for the children at the ORO will be happening!  They are going to get clean drinking water!  During Team Redwood's Documentary Premier/Adopt an Orphan Event a retired engineer from Crescent City stepped forward and volunteered to install a clean water system!  Thank you Mike Young!  This will go so far in helping the children achieve and maintain health.  Don't forget, you can still ADOPT AN ORPHAN FOR $1 A DAY.  Contact Corrina at 707-954-6107 for details.
